Morgan Self Storage Tips for Protecting Your
Goods
Use
these helpful tips for protecting household furnishings during transport
and storage. We carry a full line of packing and moving supplies
including boxes, tape, blankets, bubble wrap and locks to secure your
unit.
Furniture
• Use
plastic sheeting or a pallet between furniture and floor of
unit.
• Disassemble all furniture if possible, and
cover.
• Wrap
table legs with packing paper to help prevent scratches.
• Stack
chairs seat-to-seat with cloth or paper to separate.
•
Place assembled tables top down on floor with legs
pointing up.
• Avoid
stacking or leaning furniture against walls.
Metal
•
To avoid staining, do not store next to exposed
items.
• Wipe
metal items like bicycles and tools with a few drops of oil to help
prevent rust.
Fragile Items
• Wrap
items separately before storing in dish-pack box.
• Pack
paper onto bottom and empty spaces in cartons.
• Label
clearly and visibly as fragile.
Books
and Paper Goods
• Use
file boxes when possible.
• Pack
books flat and use extra paper to stop shifting.
•
Books are heavy - use smaller boxes.
Large
Appliances
• Use
valuable storage space inside appliances for smaller items.
• Clean
and dry refrigerators/freezers thoroughly to prevent mildew; leave doors
slightly ajar.
Clothing
• Use
wardrobe boxes with built in rods to hang your clothes and save their
shape.
